About Us
The UNC Greensboro Black Alumni Network (BAN) is a community of African American/Black alumni that was founded in 2020 by two-time UNCG graduate, Michael Clinton. The BAN's mission is to provide support and connection for African American/Black alumni, and to create and share social, community, and professional opportunities. The BAN also seeks to enhance African American/Black alumni engagement in a variety of ways.
The BAN was founded in response to a need for a more connected and supportive community for African American/Black alumni. Clinton, a 2013 & 2021 graduate of UNC Greensboro, recognized that there was a lack of resources and opportunities available to African American/Black alumni, and he wanted to create a space where they could come together to build relationships, support each other, and give back to their alma mater.
The BAN has quickly become a vibrant and active community. The group works to host a variety of events throughout the year, including networking events, social gatherings, and community service projects. The BAN hopes to offers a number of resources and support services to its members in the future, such as career coaching, mentorship programs, and financial counseling.
The BAN is committed to diversity and inclusion. The group welcomes all African American/Black alumni, regardless of their age, gender, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status. The BAN is also committed to creating a safe and welcoming space for all of its members.
