The Black Women Healing podcast originally began as the Black Women’s Healing Circle at San Diego State University in 2016.
Combining their real-life experiences and expertise as mental health professionals, this podcast helps its listeners explore the complexities of mental health. A steady rotation of engaging guest interviews and personal reflections encourage their audience to start, continue, and find joy in their own healing journey, navigating it with the confidence that they are never alone.
In addition to the podcast, Myra and Donika have hosted events nationwide to promote wellness amongst Black women and their allied communities.
Myra is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist from Inglewood, CA. As a published auther herself, she is a firm believer that everyone is the author of their own life. She shows us what it means to lead with heart and express yourself boldly.
Myra accents every outfit with a uniquely shaped purse and can’t make it through the day without her iced coffee or a moisturizing lip gloss. Oh, and don’t forget to ask about her collection of drums!
Donika is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist from Louisville, KY. She believes that our strengths, local knowledge, and culture are all focal points of our healing. A lifelong dancer and lover of R&B , she inspires us to move through life unapologetically, bringing an energetic sense of soul to everything that she does.
Donika also practices what she preaches, seeking self-care in an aromatic cup of tea or a fresh set of distinctly designed nails.
