The Black Student Union (BSU) exists to incorporate community outreach, political awareness, and cultural appreciation into our university's general student body self-enhancement and academic responsibility. BSU explores modern avenues such as events, discussions, global issues, media outlets, community service, and personal networking to fulfill this purpose. We are a non-religious, and non-political based organization founded by Joyce Booth, Brittney Buttler, and Desiree Daniels in 2008. The purpose of this organization includes but is not limited to:
Promoting black excellence.
Promoting the culture of black students.
Providing a safe environment to speak on issues and topics that affect the black community at UNCG.
Motto: “For the culture, by the culture.”
