INVISIBLE INK
Have you heard of invisible ink
This magical ink will make you think
There are things you can not see
One of these things I believe is me
People have left me in the dark
So now it's time to make my mark!

Thanksgiving Dinner with Sir Francis Drake
I turned off the light and slowly walked over to my bed without a word. I laid back and pulled the purple colored blanket over my head so I would not feel the cold air. Sleep crept over me. I woke up a couple hours later, pulled my head out of the mountain of comforters, and said, “Brrrr.” I suddenly realized I was not actually in my bed. Instead I was standing on the dirty ground scattered with little flakes of snow.
“Are you lost?” I turned around to see who the voice was coming from. Again the voice repeated, “Are you lost?” I looked to my side. It was Sir Francis Drake! I could not believe my eyes.
With a worried look on my face I quickly asked, “Where am I?”
He smiled and answered, “Well child, you are in Canada. Do you know who I am?” he questioned with a proud look on his face.
I thought I might just tease him a bit. “No,” I said with a smirk on my face. The proud look on his face turned to shock.
“You don’t know me? I’m Sir Francis Drake child. I was chosen as the leader of an expedition intended to the pass around South America.”
“Oh,” I said. “HEY, HEY, HEY,” I shouted. “Do you know what today is?” I asked with a big smile on my face.
“No what may it be today child?” he whispered.
I rolled my eyes “It’s Thanksgiving day!”
“Oh, what is this thing you call Thanksgiving?” he pondered with a confused look in his eyes. After a few hours of explaining he took out his rifle and demanded, “We shall go hunt for deer!”
“Yes indeed but be careful where you are pointing that gun, buddy.
“Oh sorry,” he chuckled with his face all red.
“Why is your face red?” I said, laughing along.
“Well it’s kind of embarrassing for me, cough cough. I mean Sir Francis Drake to be doing something silly like that. I am rich and famous, I was also knighted by Queen Elizabeth.”
“Yes I know, but you were also kind of a coward. You abandoned John Hawkins AND 100 of YOUR men. But luckily they survived,” I lectured with a cross look. He looked away in shame and started to tap his foot impatiently.
“How about we forget all of this and do what we had as planned which was to go hunt a buck,” he said while still facing the other way.
“Fine, let’s go I will stay behind you because you have the gun,” I whispered. We quietly walked into the woods onto the crunching dead leaves. He sat down near a big wide oak tree. I sat on the other side of the great tree listening to the wild. We both sat there patiently for a few minutes. Suddenly I heard footsteps nearby walking on the dead leaves. I pointed to the direction in which I was heard the steps. He put his thumb up with a smile and quietly pulled the gun up. BOOM went the gun. He jumped up in the air and ran. “Well now we have to carry this carcass all the way back,” I said with a sigh.
“Don’t give me that attitude young lady, we are going to work together. Here, you grab the legs and I’ll grab the upper body.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” I rolled my eyes.
“Go get some wood, we are going to need it,” he ordered with his hands shivering.
“Yes sir,” I said while walking near the woods. I grabbed some little pieces first so he could get the fire going. After, I went back to get some bigger pieces of wood so we could cook the deer.
“Thanks,” he said with a smile. When we were all done preparing the deer we decided to go hunt for a duck. Instead of walking into the woods we followed a path near a lake. We hid near the tall, murky, frozen grass and sat there for a few minutes. Again the gun went BOOM. We walked back in a hurry because we were both so cold. We made the fire even bigger to cook both the deer and the duck. “Let’s go get a log so we can put the food on it like a table, instead of holding it on our laps,” he offered.
We both walked into the dark woods again and got the smallest/longest log.
When dinner was ready we eagerly started to eat our catch. I admit I had no clue what to talk about so I just sat there with an awkward smile on my face listening, “Soooo how are you?”
“Quite good……and you?”
“I was fine until I woke up here in this mysterious time traveling place,” I mumbled.
“What do you mean?” he asked with a worried look on his face.
“I think I’m dreaming, that’s all. It's kinda weird how I woke up in the middle of nowhere,” I slowly answered.
“Well now that you realize this dinner and moment was what it was, I think you are ready to go back,” He winked and shot me a sly smile.
Before I even got to ask more questions about what he meant he snapped his fingers. Lights flickered in the corners of my eyes and I felt a falling sensation. I was back in my bed, twisted up in my sheets and blankets like an old gnarly tree trunk. After a few breaths I knew what Sir Francis Drake had meant by those last words. It was all just a dream, and this time and it was all in my head.

I am loyal and kind.
I wonder why some people can’t just be nice.
I hear one thousand dolphins singing their sweet soothing song.
I see homeless dogs eating trash as fast as a cheetah runs.
I want money to grow wild on trees so I can help others in need.
I am loyal and kind.
I pretend as if I am an Olympic swimmer steadfast and swift.
I feel as if I could achieve all my dreams with a flick of my fin.
I touch the velvety smooth pool water and I feel at home.
I worry about the souls I have loved and lost.
I cry with tears of joy at thought of winning the gold medal.
I am loyal and kind.
I understand why we sometimes need to go to war.
I say the world is a ticking time bomb ready to explode at any moment.
I dream of peaceful conversations and quiet glances.
I try to be the best person I can be.
I hope everyone can somehow reach happiness.
I am loyal and kind.

I am strong and independent.
I wonder who actually cares for me.
I hear the whispers behind my back.
I see everyone for who they are; an intricate snowflake with several points.
I want to be my own person proud and resilient.
I am strong and independent.
I pretend to be happy most of the time.
I feel at times like I’m alone even when in a chaotic cafeteria.
I touch the hearts of everyone I love.
I worry one day the people I cherish will vanish.
I cry for the agony I see in others’ faces.
I am strong and independent.
I understand my feelings might have to come last.
I say be brave for everyone that can’t find their voice.
I dream of smiling for real and not to please others.
I try to stand as tall as the Eiffel Tower even when I feel down.
I hope people will eventually accept me for who I am.
I am strong and independent.

A cold glass of orange juice in the morning
An early morning sunrise calling your name
Leaves spinning down to the ground like helicopters
The sound of autumn crunching under your feet
Crickets chirping a familiar melody
A fire crackling on a cool spring evening
Mom’s homemade pumpkin bread after a long day of school
A juicy orange when you’re craving something sweet
A line of little pumpkins standing at attention
Sweaty palms and nerves
Rain falling from the sky smooth like silk ribbons
The moment right before you win big
Orange can spice up your life in seconds.

I am an intelligent person who loves reading books about ancient heroes.
I wonder what life will be like in 200 years.
I hear the sound of the chirping crickets outside my window.
I see the stories of heroes and villains flash before my eyes.
I want to visit the Colosseum in Rome one day.
I am an intelligent person who loves reading books about ancient heroes.
I pretend that when I sleep, I become the character that I read about.
I feel as if history is a labyrinth that I can immerse myself within.
I touch my life as if it is an invisible timeline.
I worry about my grades and if I will have to attend summer school.
I cry when a family member dies whether it is natural or not.
I am an intelligent person who loves reading books about ancient heroes.
I understand that we, as a species, need to help our planet.
I say that we can’t live forever so make your life worth living.
I dream one day this land will be better.
I try to achieve my goals with dignity and pride.
I hope one day we will practice stability and not plunge into senseless wars.
I am an intelligent person who loves reading books about ancient heroes.

What is love?
Something special
Not too fast
Meant to cherish
Meant to last
So enjoy this
Little simple spark
Something to hold
In the dark
Something to love
And embrace
Now a bright
And
Happy place.

Water
Ice
Blue
Frigid
Dive in
Find your way
Creatures zooming
Watching your every move
Deeper down
Blackness creeps
Coral waiting
Listening
Looking for clues
Not your territory
Face to face
You understand
This endless world below
Is not what it seems.
