Carbon Footprint is the measure of the damage caused by human activities to the environment in terms of the amount of greenhouse gas produced, measured in unit carbon dioxide. Too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere causes global warming which causes climate change. Nature absorbs the half of the carbon released to the atmosphere. This means that there is an excess of carbon in the atmosphere despite nature's help. Between 2014 and 2016, carbon emissions from industry and electricity generation remained stable as the world economy grew less. However, with the growth of the global economy last year, carbon emissions increased by 1.2 %.
SPACE POLLUTION
We have a big problem with the space garbage left by 40% China, 27.5 percent by the USA and 25.5 % by Russia. A piece the size of a medicine tablet can damage satellites and kill astronauts at a speed of 15,000 km per hour.
GREENHOUSE GASES
Greenhouse gases are the compounds that support the greenhouse effect, exist in the atmosphere and have the most heat retention properties.
Earth's atmosphere is made up of various gases. There are also small amounts of some inert gases. The rays from the sun (heat rays / short wave rays) pass through the atmosphere and heat the earth. Gases in the atmosphere hold some of the heat on the earth and prevent the earth's heat loss. The atmosphere has the ability to transmit light and retain heat. Thanks to the atmosphere's ability to retain heat, the temperature of the waters remains in balance. Thus, the rivers and oceans are prevented from freezing. The heating and insulation effect of the atmosphere formed in this way is called the "Greenhouse effect".
The gases that cause the main greenhouse effect in the world are 36-70% Water vapor, 9-26% Carbon dioxide, 4-9% Methane and 3-7% Ozone. It is produced by. Naturally occurring greenhouse gases include water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and ozone. As a result of human activities, these gas levels are added and the greenhouse effect is seen as a result.
As we mentioned in our subject, we are worry about our world’s future and we would like to leave a green world to children of next generations.
To do this, we choosed this subject, we collected many informations and we studied as team
Now, we would like share our ideas that we produced by teamwork of our great team.
Launching a satellite into space and that space vehicle collecting space garbage. We want this space vehicle to have a recycling system in itself and to pour the recycled material into certain molds and obtain some parts. To clamp and deliver these parts to that satellite that may be needed during repair by other satellites or ISS. So what about the materials that can no longer be recycled? They will enter the ISS as a result of this satellite clamping into the ISS. The astronauts taking part in the ISS will return to Earth and bring these parts with them. In this way, we will reduce our carbon footprint both in space and on Earth.
We can use cardboard or cloth bags instead of petroleum-based bags.
We have two ways to solve the space waste problem.
First, we have to stop generating more waste.
Second, we must develop suggestions to get rid of existing waste.
