Heyyy there! Since I have some exciting front porch sessions coming up and LOTS of questions about them, I decided to post FOUR tips on how to prep for these awesome things!
1. Decide which direction your front porch is facing. If it faces the East, you are better off getting pics at the end of the day when the sun is behind the house. Vice Versa for West facing porches! Now for the tricky porches: North and South. I've learned that the best time to do these is either in the morning around 9-10 am or in the evening 6-7 pm. This is when the sun can be less harsh and more a yummy gold!
2. Make sure your front porch is presentable. If you have some pretty pots with flowers in them, bring them outside for the shoot! Pick up any clutter like the kids' toys, give it a good sweep, add a rug to cover up a grease spot... you get it (:
3. Don't freak out about how to pose or what to wear. I totally understand that this is a very nontraditional spot for family photos. However, have you seen what I've already been able to take this season?! I just showed up at these houses without a clue of what they looked like before getting there. Your front porch is the entry into your home. The place keeping you safe during this time and it needs to be documented!
4. Lastly, if you have an idea for a pose TELL ME! I am ALWAYS up for something different and I've been encouraging my families to get a little more creative! You want to play hopscotch with your kids in the driveway? LET'S DO IT! Other ideas: picnic, kiddie pool, picking flowers...
Can you tell this is just PUMPING me up?! I can't wait to see what you come up with for your session!
