New publication in the Journal of Population Economics: Higher education, lower satisfaction: hypogamy and traditional norms in Japan

About me:

I am a family economist studying how couples allocate resources within the household and how these decisions interact with labor markets, with a regional focus on Japan. I work primarily with large microdata sets, and I am fascinated by how Japan's strong social norms and rigid labor market shape family decisions.

My connection to Japan goes back more than a decade: I spent a semester at Hitotsubashi University during my Bachelor's and a year at Sophia University during my Master's. In 2024, the German Institute for Japanese Studies awarded me a four-month scholarship in Tokyo. I speak Japanese at the JLPT N2 level and perfecting my language skills remains an important goal for me.

I am currently on the job market seeking research positions in family and labor economics.
