Currently on leave - Visiting Professor of Historical Sociology, University of Chicago
I am a tenured CNRS researcher and professor at Université Dauphine, I specialized in the study of global financial capitalism in historical perspective.
My first book, Working for Debt, studied the origins of financial exploitation in the United States, was published with Columbia University Press
My new project looks at the political economy of colonization and decolonization in the French empire, through the lens of private capital. I study how financial firms shaped colonial exploitation and expropriation, as well as fueled anticolonial unrest from the end of the First World War until well after independence, when economic sovereignty became a major site of postcolonial contention.
