Privacy PolicyLast Updated: February 20251. Information We CollectBitey is designed with privacy in mind. We collect only what is needed to provide the service:
Recipes and collections: When you use the App without an account, your saved recipes and folders are stored only on your device. If you create an account (e.g. with Google or Apple), we sync this data to our servers so you can access it across devices.
Account information: If you sign in, we receive from the provider (Google or Apple) an identifier and, depending on the provider, your email and display name. We use this to create and manage your account.
Onboarding answers: Preferences you set during onboarding (e.g. dietary goals) are stored on your device. If you create an account after onboarding, we may save a summary of these answers to your profile so we can personalize your experience.
Device and analytics: We may collect basic device information and anonymized usage data (e.g. crashes, performance) to improve the App.
Subscription: If you purchase Bitey Premium, payment and subscription details are processed by the App Store or Play Store. We do not have access to your payment card details.
2. How We Use Your InformationWe use the information we collect to:
Provide, maintain, and improve Bitey (saving recipes, syncing across devices when you have an account)
Authenticate your account and personalize your experience
Process subscriptions (via the stores)
Send technical notices and support-related messages
Analyze usage to fix bugs and improve performance
3. Data Storage and SecurityOn your device: Your recipes, folders, and preferences are stored locally. When you are not signed in, this data does not leave your device.In the cloud: If you have an account, we store your profile and synced recipes and folders on secure servers (Supabase) so you can access them from other devices. We use industry-standard measures to protect this data.No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We do not sell your personal information.4. Third-Party ServicesWe use:
Supabase: For authentication (Google/Apple sign-in) and storing your account and synced recipe/folder data.
Google and Apple: For sign-in; they provide us only the information you allow (e.g. email, name). Their privacy policies apply to that sign-in flow.
App Store / Play Store: For subscription and payment processing.
Subscription and analytics: We may use services such as RevenueCat for subscription management and analytics. These services have their own privacy policies.
We do not share your recipe or collection content with third parties for advertising or marketing.5. Permissions
Notifications: Optional; used only if you enable reminders (e.g. for recipes or meal ideas).
Storage: Used to store your data locally on your device.
You can revoke permissions at any time in your device settings.6. Data Retention
On device: Data stays until you clear app data or uninstall the App.
Account data: We retain your account and synced data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your data in line with our retention practices.
7. Your RightsYou can:
Access and manage your recipes and folders in the App
Delete your account from Settings, which will remove your profile and synced data from our servers
Clear local data by clearing app data or uninstalling the App
Control app permissions in your device settings
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (e.g. access, correction, deletion, portability). Contact us to exercise them.8. Children's PrivacyBitey is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.9. Changes to This PolicyWe may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy in the App and update the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.10.
