Bitdefender activation code

An Activation code is a necessary component of any subscription-based product or service. Without it, you cannot redeem the services offered.

The same goes with Bitdefender setup activation. The moment you complete a purchase of any of a Bitdefender product, an activation code tied to your subscription is generated and sent to you via email. You have to input this code to activate the Bitdefender subscription.

The activation code is sent right away after you pay for a Bitdefender product. Sometimes though due to some unexpected system errors, a delay might happen and you may receive your Bitdefender license key an hour later. But in any case, you will receive the email within 24 hours, and if it's taking any longer you should contact Bitdefender support.

Bitdefender central account

For any Bitdefender setup activation, you need a Bitdefender central account. It's a web-based portal for easy management of your subscription across all your devices where Bitdefender is installed. It gives you remote access to Bitdefender online features and enables the user to perform certain tasks on the systems directly from their central account dashboard. So before you proceed to activate your Bitdefender subscription you must first register a central account.

How to activate Bitdefender setup?

You must note that the Bitdefender product validity period starts with the purchase and not with the activation. But you can't use the product's features without the activation. So you must not delay the activation process or it will cause unnecessary wastage of the license period.

● Enter the URL central.Bitdefender.com in a browser and press enter. It will lead you to the Bitdefender central page.

● On the left side of the window, you will find my subscription button. Click on it.

● On my subscription window, click on the Activate a service with the code button.

● You will then be taken to a new page where you will be required to enter the license code. Type it in the given box.

● Make sure, you enter it as you have received it in the email. Any wrong or missed entry will result in activation failure.

● Copy and paste will be a better option than typing.

● You must also note that an activation code can only be used once. If you are trying to renew a Bitdefender subscription with an already redeemed license key, it won't work. You have to purchase a new one.

● Once you have input the code, click on the Activate button.

● The system will now validate the key and then activate your Bitdefender license in the central account.

Bitdefender activation is only a one-time process and the activation code is for single-use and a single central account. It will no longer be needed for installation and activation. Only after the activation process is successfully completed, you can proceed to download and install the Bitdefender product on your computer.

One more point to note is, you may receive a "this key is already used to generate a subscription" message. In such a case check your, "my subscription panel". Your subscription may be already activated in your central account.

Bitdefender License activation troubleshooting

If you are receiving an invalid code error, most probably you not entering the activation code correctly. You must check for any typos.

If you see an error message pop up, stating that the code is restricted in the region, it might be possible that you are trying to redeem the code from a region that does not come under the Bitdefender license. You may have traveled abroad. So wait till You have returned to your place of residence. If that is not the case contact Support.

If the Error message states that "the Subscription cant be activated from this account type", it means that the central account does not support that kind of Activation. It generally happens when Bitdefender small office Security is already active on your central and you are attempting to activate home Solutions. To avoid this error use a different central account.


I have an activation code. How to add its validity to my subscription?

If you have an activation key from our official purchase or as a gift, you may add its availability to your Bitdefender subscription.


For activating a subscription with an activation code, follow the below steps:

1. Access your Bitdefender Central account.

2. Click on My Subscriptions.

3. Click on Activate with code button, then enter the code in the desired field.

4. Click on ACTIVATE.

5. Choose Extend validity, and click on ACTIVATE.


The extension will be visible in your Bitdefender Central account.


How to reallocate a device to another subscription

Single Central accounts can have multiple Bitdefender subscriptions.


Two identical subscriptions like Bitdefender Total Security, having 5 devices can be merged with a single subscription with extended validity in the activation process. An account can keep multiple subscriptions valid for the different Bitdefender like Bitdefender Mobile Security, Bitdefender Total Security, Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac, etc.

Here, we will show how to reallocate a device to another Bitdefender subscription. You have to move devices to a valid subscription when the old service expires or it is invalidated when activating another subscription with additional seats.


Follow the below steps, if you want to transfer your device to a valid subscription:

1. Visit Bitdefender Central and sign in.

2. Click on the My Subscriptions, located on the left side.

3. Click on the Manage from the old/expiring subscription card.

4. Select Manage Device Allocation from the drop-down.

5. Now expand the product which has devices assigned to it.

6. Now you will see all devices that used this Bitdefender subscription.

7. Select a device to modify its current allocation.

8. Select Change allocation. Now you can reallocate the device to a valid subscription with the device and enough seats.

9. Select CHANGE ALLOCATION in the lower-right corner.


Repeat this until all your devices have been transferred to the other subscription.


How do you manage my Bitdefender subscriptions?

Activate a new Bitdefender subscription

Activate a Bitdefender subscription with a code, received when purchasing the product:

1. Visit Bitdefender Central and sign in to Account. If you do not have an account, you have to select create.

2. Click on the My Subscriptions, which is located on the left side of the site.

3. Click Activate with a coded link.

4. Input the code in the desired field, then click on ACTIVATE.


★ A single Central account handles the activation and usage in parallel of multi subscriptions valid for the current Bitdefender product like Bitdefender Total Security for 5 devices and Bitdefender Total Security for 10 devices.


Check the remaining validity & seats

For finding the expiration date and the number of additional installations for your Bitdefender subscriptions:

1. Visit the Bitdefender Central and sign in.

2. Click on the My Subscriptions, which is located on the left side.

4. Each subscription card displays:

• its expiry date like This license will end on Dec 30, 2020)

• total number of active devices like Active 3 out of 5 devices


Add extra seats to your subscription

Bitdefender subscriptions get with limited slots to install it on multiple devices. If you have used up all slots, you can add more seats by purchasing a new subscription:

1. Visit Bitdefender Central and sign in to your account.

2. Click on My Subscriptions, which is located on the left side.

3. Select Protect More Devices, next to the subscription name.

4. The purchase site will open in another tab. Follow the steps to buy more seats, and then activate it in the same Central account.


View service details

1. Visit Bitdefender Central and sign in to your account.

2. Click on the My Subscriptions, which is located on the left side.

3. Click on the Manage from the subscription card.

4. Select View service details from the drop-down menu.

5. A new window will pop up on your screen, with the below information:

• operating systems protected with this subscription

• Bitdefender products included in the pack

• Active devices for each product

• All available features

• System requirements

• User guide


How to Manage device allocation

If no devices are allocated to a service, you have the option to install Bitdefender via My Subscriptions:

1. Visit the Bitdefender Central and get signed in to your account.

2. Select My Subscriptions, which is located on the left side.

3. Now click on Install protection on a new device from the subscription card with no active devices.

4. Follow the steps to install Bitdefender on a new device.


After a device has been assigned to a Bitdefender service, you may select to relocate it to a different service, in order to free up space on that service

1. Visit the Bitdefender Central and get signed in to your account.

2. Click on the My Subscriptions, which is located on the left side of the page.

3. Click on the Manage from the subscription card.

4. Select Manage Device Allocation from the drop-down option.

5. Here show all devices that use this Bitdefender subscription.

6. Select a device to change its current allocation.

7. Then the below options are presented:

Keep current allocation. No change will be made for this device

Change allocation to another Bitdefender subscription from Central account login.

Remove protection from this device. Choose when you want to free up slots from a subscription. On the same device, the product will be displayed as having no active subscription.
