To Love Her...
To love her…
To love her is to be human
To be whole
To no longer be afraid
To be proud
To resist and fight back
To love her is to honor every woman who came before
And couldn’t
and hid
and deserted herself
Whose life was snuffed out
Whose body was burned
maimed
For love like this
To love her keeps the doors open
For future generations for
A day without lesbians is like a day without sunshine
A rallying call against
hate and discrimination
A truth that illuminates
our power
A power that radiates eternally
We are as essential
As needed
as the sun itself
Every touch of her skin
Hands
Breasts
Thighs
Belly
Lips
Honors our sacredness
Sanctifies our fecundity
Our erotic
To love her is to be
steadfast
diligent
tender
To love her is to embrace the fear of the what-ifs
And nevertheless
Say yes
Say yes
Say yes!
To love her is expansive
Past hollow narratives of love
Those narratives of love left me
Void of provision
Deficient of substance
Malnourished
To love her is to have a full belly and heart
To be given life
Energized to my marrow
To love her is to honor every part of her
And in return it honors every part of me
every dyke who came before us
resuscitated
their spirits vibrating in our every cell
enlivening
divine reciprocity
To love her is
To wholly love myself
Clamor- UWB's Literary and Arts Journal
From Clamor's About Us...
Clamor is the University of Washington Bothell’s annual Literary and Arts Journal, representing the best creative practices in literary, visual and media arts from across our campus and surrounding community. Clamor is published by students for students and is staffed by participants in BISIA 401 at UWB.
Clamor submissions share messages and tell stories, speak truth, inspire change, and create beauty in the world, foster empathy through shared identities, perspectives, emotions, and experiences, and provide escape and connection for our community. Our contributors are the many voices that form Clamor.
Submissions are open during Fall Quarter each year. Submissions are open to current UWB students in a variety of mediums such as written word, visual arts and mixed media. It is a digital and print publication.
