I just purchased a Samsung 970 evo plus and have connected it to my Dell G5 5090. I've formatted the SSD and it shows up in This PC as the D drive. In the Samsung Magician application it tells me that "The device is connected to the that Magician does not support. Recommendation: Use Microsoft or Samsung NVMe driver." Above that it lists DRIVER | Intel Corporation 17.5.3.1026.

I have samsung 970 EVO Plus 250 GB and it's not supported by magician, everything like diagnostic scan, over provisioning, performance optimization (like retrim), secure erase, PSID revert and encrupted driver are not supported.

and i checked the trim was enable, already updated to latest BOIS (MSI Z490 Gaming Edge Wifi), using ACHI mode, installed NVM driver 3.3, using latest Samsung Magician 6.3.0 and it says me driver is genuine, not sure what to do!

Not acutally, SSD not supported by samsung magician it got solved by it self they tried to tell me ways to remove and install the app but didn't work but apparently it was server issue from samsung side that it was not decteting the hard drive by samsung magican but it worked at the end after couple of days.

i spend 1 hour yesterday with samsung support chat. tried everything from installing, reinstalling, tried samsung nvme drivers, and windows drivers, sadly, still the same result as you. on the support page, samsung magician said that evo 970 plus is supported. but magician does not recongnize it. i am afraid that it's due to laptop model... its a asus tuf dash f15. it has 2 m.2 slots, BUT what i do not see, is in the BIOS, i cannot tell if its in AHCI or RAID. there is no option and i have no clue how to verify that. so my next quest is to contact Asus, to see what their response will be. under device manager. i will find out i guess! thanks for the reply.

It's server issue from samsung side, give it 2 days or so and the app will work as intended and it's not from your laptop if the laptop sees the drive as Samsung 970 Evo Plus and with advertised speed/write then you good to go and you can use another 3rd party apps to monitor your SSD.

Samsung uses a driver which is not digitally signed to interact with the SSD, if you see Event Log it says[quote]"The MagicianSataModeReader service failed to start due to the following error:

Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source."

Ok, the Reader Service of the tool obviously needs a driver to get the required informations from the Samsung Disk Drive, which is connected to the mainboard.

Another question: Why do you integrate such a miserably coded tool into a clean Win10 image? For which purposes do you use it? Is it the feature named "Rapid Mode", which measures the speed of your DRAM modules, but not the real performance of your Samsung HDD/SSD?

I have different Samsung SSDs and always got a BSOD, when I tried to install the tool. For me this tool is absolutely crap.

Hi Asteroid, I had a similar problem to you and tried all the suggestions on this site to no avail. My BIOS also has the drive seen as in AHCI mode. I diagnosed that the problem MAY have started after I set my original Magician v5.5(which was working) to Rapid mode, I also used 'Overprovisioning' to set aside 10% of my drive. I also started getting a BSOD 'Kmode not handled' loop that stopped my PC starting. When PC actually did start the Magician gave error message, ' an error occurred during execution of scanning' (which could explain the 'Kmode not handled' BSOD, since bootup was looking for a driver that it couldnt find, and I couldn't diagnose which driver that was ) but then would open Magician with the 'not supported' leaders you suggested. After using the other methods in this post and reinstalling etc. it still didn't work. Finally I booted into safe mode, uninstalled Magician, clicked into 'Drive Management' via Device Manager and extended the drive to recover the (unallocated) 10% overprovisioning partition, then installed Magician v6, rebooted, and wahey! problem(s) solved. Hope this helps someone.

There is something called samsung magician dc that you can install in linux. It can be downloaded from this link. The manual can be found in that dropdown list. Extract the tarball from the first link, and open the resulting folder. There will be two directories, 64-bit and 32 bit. Open the one corresponding to your operating system. The samsung magician executable is in this folder. The file is a simple binary so make it executable and run it.

The usage of samsung magician is described in the manual. Also some information on how to use the software can be obtained from sudo ./magician --help. One thing to know is that you pretty much always have to run magician as superuser. For example to list the samsung disks attached to your system you would use the command

sudo ./magician -L There are many more operations desribed in the manual.

The 840 evo has a performance update which (I think) is independent from firmware and cannot be done with samsung magician dc. I think this performance update was the original goal of your question, so I will address it. The performance update can be found here. I have not done this update, but the installation guide is there.

Driver Magician allows you to choose the drive where you want to store the drivers. The time it takes to backup the drivers depends on the drivers you want to store, so it can take from 2 minutes to a longer time.

Yes told me to disable tamper protection before uninstalling MBAM, but when I uninstalled MBAM it asked for tamper protection password...I did not disable tamper protection because I had not read your message before that. Is this going to mess up something? Im a bit worried about this "File C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\wintun.sys move to C:\Users\X\AppData\Local\Temp\6ee921fd-4845-4133-853e-bbfd7792d91c failed with error 5...Failed to delete File C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\wintun.sys, reason:(Cannot create a file when that file already exists.(error=183)),...Failed to create PFRO for C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\wintun.sys, reason: (Access is denied.(error=5))." WHAT IS THIS?!?! Is something still wrong?!?! Did it not uninstall properly? What is that .sys file and what MBAM uninstall is trying to do it? Why? How?

Here is the complete log I got when I ran the support tools uninstaller:

I thought to myself what has changed since yesterday when I lasted booted up/used the two computers and both worked fine before turning them off for the night. Well, I had installed hot-off-the-press Win 10 optional update KB5001567 that appeared in Windows Update which MS released yesterday to fix a blue screen of death problem some people were getting after a recent Windows update....you know....a MS update to fix another MS update.....a blue screen of death problem caused with "certain" printer drivers. I had been reading about the blue screen of death problem for a few days. I hadn't experienced this problem (at least not yet) but went ahead and installed the optional MS KB5001567 update on both my Lenovo computers last night. After installing the updates no problem appeared last night but I will admitted I had not yet started either computer from a cold boot since the update.

Both. Checking on Reddit to see if anyone has an update. Talked with my son who also works on computers just now and he said the Samsung SSD's have an endemic problem with failures and then not all drivers when they update have compatibilities with the other drivers programs. Hoping by tomorrow someone has an idea and or a workaround fix.

I've been getting a popup when I boot my Win10 PC that says "Samsung magician update available". I'm not sure if it will update the magician software only, or if it will update the firmware on my Samsung SSD which Win10 resides on. So I just close the popup and it goes away until my boot up the next morning. 5376163bf9
