Bird Song Finder ("we," "our," or "the App") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how Bird Song Finder handles information when you use our application.
Bird Song Finder is a bird song identification application that analyzes short audio clips to identify bird species. The application is designed with privacy in mind, and bird song audio is processed locally on your device whenever the identification feature is used.
When you use the bird song identification feature, the App requests access to your device's microphone.
The audio captured for bird song identification:
Is processed on your device.
Is analyzed by the on-device bird identification model.
Is not uploaded to our servers.
Is not stored permanently by the App.
Is not recorded to disk for later use.
Is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers or other third parties.
Microphone access is used only when you actively use the bird song identification feature.
Bird Song Finder does not require you to create an account and does not intentionally collect personal information such as your name, address, phone number, or email address through the bird identification feature.
If you contact us by email, we may receive the information you voluntarily provide, such as your email address and the contents of your message. We use this information only to respond to your request and provide customer support.
Bird Song Finder uses an on-device AI model based on the BirdNET research project associated with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Chemnitz University of Technology.
The bird song classification process is designed to occur locally on your device. Your captured audio is not sent to our servers for analysis.
Because processing occurs on your device, the App can provide bird identification functionality even when an internet connection is unavailable.
Bird Song Finder may optionally use an eBird API key to obtain additional taxonomy information from the eBird database operated by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
The use of an eBird API key is optional. The App's core bird identification functionality does not require users to provide an eBird API key.
When eBird services are used, requests may be sent to the applicable eBird service to retrieve taxonomy-related information. Please refer to eBird's applicable privacy practices and terms for information about how those services handle data.
Bird Song Finder requires microphone access only when you choose to identify a bird song.
You can control microphone access at any time through your device's privacy settings. If microphone permission is denied, the bird song recording and identification feature may not function.
The core bird song identification process is designed to work on-device and does not require an internet connection.
Some optional features, such as retrieving additional taxonomy information through eBird services, may require an internet connection.
Bird Song Finder does not maintain a server-side database containing your recorded bird song audio.
Audio captured for identification is processed for the purpose of providing the requested identification result and is not intentionally retained by the App.
Bird Song Finder may interact with third-party services when you voluntarily use optional functionality, such as eBird taxonomy services.
The App may also rely on Apple's operating system services and frameworks required for normal application functionality.
Third-party services operate under their own privacy policies and terms. We encourage you to review the applicable policies of any third-party service before using optional features that interact with that service.
Bird Song Finder is not designed to collect personal information from children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App. If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by the App. Because bird song identification is primarily performed on your device, the App is designed to minimize the transmission and storage of audio data.
However, no electronic system or method of data transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You can control microphone access through your device settings.
You may also choose not to use optional online services, such as eBird taxonomy lookup. The core bird identification functionality is designed to operate without requiring such optional services.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App, applicable laws, or our privacy practices.
When we make changes, we will update the "Effective Date" shown at the top of this Privacy Policy.
We encourage you to periodically review this Privacy Policy for the latest information.

Welcome to Bird Song Finder. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Bird Song Finder application ("App," "we," "our," or "us").
By downloading, accessing, or using Bird Song Finder, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the App.
Bird Song Finder is designed to help users identify birds by analyzing bird songs and other environmental sounds captured through the device microphone.
The App uses an on-device AI model based on the BirdNET research project to provide likely bird species identifications.
Bird Song Finder provides AI-generated bird identification results for informational and educational purposes.
Identification results may include:
Common bird name
Scientific name
Bird family
Taxonomic order
Confidence score
Other available species information
Bird identification is inherently subject to environmental conditions, recording quality, background noise, bird vocalization variations, model limitations, and other factors.
Identification results are not guaranteed to be accurate.
You should not rely solely on Bird Song Finder when making decisions that require expert-level species identification.
The App uses machine-learning technology to estimate the most likely bird species from an audio sample.
AI results may occasionally be incorrect, incomplete, or misleading. A high confidence score does not guarantee that an identification is correct.
Users should independently verify important identifications using reliable sources or qualified experts.
You may use the App's bird song identification feature by granting microphone permission.
You are responsible for using the microphone feature in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
You should not use the App to record conversations or other private communications without the appropriate consent or legal authorization.
Bird Song Finder may provide optional access to taxonomy-related information through eBird services.
An eBird API key may be added by the user where supported. Use of such services may be subject to eBird's own terms, policies, API requirements, and limitations.
Bird Song Finder does not guarantee the availability, accuracy, completeness, or continued operation of third-party services.
The App, including its software, interface, design, graphics, branding, text, and other original materials, is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Applicable third-party copyrights, licenses, trademarks, and attribution requirements remain with their respective owners.
The App may interact with third-party services, including optional eBird services.
