School District Split
ASD, under direction from the current school board members, is studying options to divide the school district into 2 or 3 separate districts. I am concerned that all split options suggest costs will increase. The studies indicate that students, teachers, and taxpayers will benefit financially if the district stays together. I support giving voters the final decision in this matter. I also support possible changes to state law improving voter representation by increasing the number of school board members for larger districts. Regardless of the decisions that will be made in the coming months, I will work to support our area and make sure that we are not carrying an undue tax burden.
Conservative Tax Policies
I will make a dollar stretch, through proper budgeting and forecasting to ensure the needs of students, teachers, and support services are met, while minimizing the impact on taxpayers.
I will be fiscally responsible and remember that educational funding from our taxes is a sacred responsibility. I realize that many who contribute taxes to fund education don’t have children in our schools.
Teachers
I believe in teachers and educational support professionals. I want to invest in, recruit, retain, support, and train the best educators.
District policies must focus on consistency and efficiency while still allowing schools and teachers flexibility to work with parents to address individual student needs.
I will represent YOU
I will focus on investing in kids by offering the best educational experience as possible.
My promise is to be a good listener to all sides of an issue, and to be prepared and study the materials, and issues presented, to have a committee of people who I can reach out to for advice on matters that come before us as a board, and to be inclusive for all students’educational success.
I know that the strength of parents and families determines the success of our district. I want to support you.
Diversity, Equity
and Inclusion
I believe that all students need our support, not just those who are part of a defined group. Schools and classrooms should be safe places for all students to learn. Banners, flags, exhibits or other décor that promote a political position or that support one ideology while impacting another should not be displayed in public schools. I oppose all forms of discrimination and reverse discrimination.
