One example is using bio-nano-materials to make cancer earlier and easier to detect. The right figure shows why this is very important. It's the 5-year survival rates of 4 major cancers at early (blue) and late (orange) stage in the US, it shows that the early detection of cancer greatly increases the chances for successful treatment. Best protection is early detection!!
