We are an interdisciplinary research group in the Department of Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology at IIT Delhi. We work at the interface of Engineering, Physics and Biology to study functions of mammalian cell using engineering and physics-based approaches. Our research focuses on studying the behavior and response of vascular cells under externally imposed flow conditions in the confined microchannels of lab-on-a-chip devices. The underlying studies have implications in understanding the complex behavior of vascular cells for the detection of vascular diseases under pathological conditions. Besides the fluid dynamics associated with the vascular system, we study electro-hydrodynamics of biological soft-matter systems (vesicles) subjected to electric and flow fields.
