Bio-functional Surface Engineering Lab

The Bio-functional Surface Engineering Lab carries out research on surface modifications and coatings to control the interface properties of various materials, such as polymers, ceramics, and metals. Our group focuses on the surface engineering concerning micro/nanoscale thin film or ultrafine structures to enhance interfacial effects, for example, tailoring wettability, cell/protein adhesion, tribological properties as well as improving bio-interactions. The bio-functional coatings to enhance bio-compatibility or to achieve anti-bacterial/anti-viral activity have broad applications to bio-protective clothes, masks, films and biomedical devices etc.

생체기능성 표면공학 연구실에서는 고분자, 세라믹, 금속 등 다양한 소재의 계면 특성을 제어하기 위한 표면개질 및 코팅에 관한 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 우리 그룹은 젖힘성, 세포/단백질 흡착, 마찰 특성 제어 및 생체 상호작용 개선과 같은 계면 효과를 향상시키기 위해 마이크로/나노스케일 박막 또는 초미세 구조에 관한 표면 공학에 중점을 두고 있습니다. 생체적합성 향상 또는 항균/항바이러스 활성을 위한 생체 기능성 코팅은 생체 보호 의류, 마스크, 필름 및 의료기기 등에 광범위하게 적용됩니다.

• Manufacturing techniques for advanced functional surfaces with use of advanced materials or bio-materials 

     첨단 신소재 또는 생체소재를 이용한 기능성 표면 제조 기술

• Biocompatible and hemocompatible surface modifications for biomedical applications

     바이오메디칼 응용을 위한 생체 적합성 및 혈액 적합성 표면개질 기술

• Superhydrophilic/uperhydrophobic surface modifications for self-cleaning or antifouling 

     자가 세정 또는 방오를 위한 초친수/초소수성 표면개질 기술

• Photodynamic inactivation technology for antibacterial/antiviral personal protective equipment (PPE)  

     항균/항바이러스 개인보호구(PPE) 적용 광역학적 비활성화 기술
