A biome is a geographical region with specific wildlife, climate, and vegetation. There are 5 main biomes, including forest, grassland, aquatic, and tundra, however some biomes can be separated into more specific categories. Scientists believe there can be up to 11 biomes. Soil, climate, and the amount of sunlight contribute to what life exists the biome. An ecosystem is different to a biome as an ecosystem is a biological community of interacting organisms, but a biome is a specific region. A biome can include several ecosystems within it such as the aquatic biome which includes both coral reefs and kelp forests.
