Dear Reader,
Welcome to the Biographers’ Bench. This is a place where words are written. It is a space where stories are honoured, and given the life they deserve on the page.
We know that telling one’s story can feel both exciting and challenging. Memories can be tangled with emotions; moments may seem too ordinary to matter. But, we believe, with all our hearts, that no story is too small.
The Bench was founded by Dr. Unmesh Kulkarni and Mr. Mohit Purohit, who share a vision. A vision to create a home for biographers where anyone, not only public figures but everyday individual, can find their voice in words. Together, they have built a team of writers, authors, and biographers who stand beside you to do just that.
Our role is to support your vision, unlock your story, and bring it into the world in the form of a book. Sometimes that book is a full biography. Sometimes it is a memoir or a family history. Sometimes it is a tribute written to honour a life. Whatever the form, the heart of the work is always to ensure that your story is heard, preserved, and passed on.
We write in Marathi, English, Hindi, and Gujarati, and we have together created more than three dozen books. Each one as unique as the person behind it. But numbers and languages are only part of the picture. What truly matters is the bond we form with you.
We are readers turned storytellers. For us, writing is not merely a transaction; it is a journey that we are willing to take with you. Every journey holds meaning, and every life leaves a mark worth tracing.
So, if you choose to sit with us on the Bench, whether in Nashik, or virtually through a video call, know that we shall be here, waiting for you.
We will ask questions. We will listen carefully. We will shape your story one step, one word, one emotion at a time, until it rests before you as something precious. Something worth preserving..
This is our promise to you: Your. Story. Matters.
Let us tell it together..
With warmth,
The Biographers’ Bench
For over 35 years, Dr Kulkarni has dedicated his life to education and writing. He belongs to a family where teaching is not a profession but a tradition spanning four generations.
His parents inspired in him a deep reverence for literature. Today, that devotion continues through his family. In his household, books are cherished in the family library and often revisited, time and again.
Prof Kulkarni is recognised as an author with a distinctive voice. His writing reflects his lifelong mission to share knowledge generously, to share his experience through literature. Besides this, he works tirelessly to make education accessible with sincerity and devotion through his societal commitments.
At Biographers’ Bench, he guides the team with wisdom, and experience.
Mohit is a post-graduate in International Relations from the University of London, where long hours in British libraries, conversations with global scholars, and encounters with varied philosophies kindled his passion for amicable articulation.
Mohit has always nurtured a love for ghost-writing, editing, and creative writing. He has translated and transcribed over sixty hours of Hindi and Marathi addresses into English, and in an age of instant messaging, he still cherishes the art of letter-writing.
As a biographer, Mohit excels in blending the geopolitical, historical, intellectual, cultural, and emotional dimensions of a life into narratives that are compelling. At Biographers’ Bench, he brings his interdisciplinary insight and storytelling craft to help individuals preserve their journeys in words.
