Previous Steps 💡
Acetyl CoA + Oxaloacetate → Citrate + CoA-SH
ENZYME: Citrate SynthaseÂ
Citrate → IsocitrateÂ
ENZYME: AconitaseÂ
Phase 2: Oxidative Phase
This phase produces NADH and CO2 from both reactions
Isocitrate → alpha-Ketogluterate + CO2 + NADH
ENZYME: Isocitrate dehydrogenaseÂ
Inhibited by→ ATP, NADH
Activated by → ADP and Ca2+ (Why? → Ca2+ is around after muscle contraction)Â
alpha-Ketogluterate → Succinyl-CoA + CO2 + NADH
ENZYME: alpha-Ketogluterate dehydrogenase COMPLEX (this is the same structure as found in the PDH and functions the same)Â
Inhibited by: Succinyl-CoA, ATP, NADH
