Here is a list of just the enzymes in chronological order. For some, it may help to memorize this list and use the tricks written in the previous sections to remember the substrates and products!
1: Hexokinase (irreversible)
"Six kinase" - Add a phosphate group to sixth carbon!
2: Phosphoglucose isomerase
"Phosphate glucose switch around" - Move around the structure of the molecule with the glucose + phosphate. This creates fructose!
3. Phosphofructokinase (irreversible)
"Phosphate + Fructose kinase" -Add a phosphate group to the molecule with fructose and phosphate.
4: Aldolase
Makes an aldose, GAP is an aldose! (DHAP isn't though, so it needs to be rearranged"
5. Triose phosphate isomerase
"Three carbon sugar with phosphate group switch around" - Modified DHAP (3 carbon sugar with phosphate group) into GAP
~This is the end of the Energy Input Phase, now we are entering the Energy Output Phase~
6: Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase
"GAP loses hydrogen to add phosphate" -Adds 3rd phosphate group to GAP by losing a H+ to NAD+
7. Phosphoglycerate kinase
"Phosphate glycerol kinase" Moves phosphate group to generate ATP (remember, because this is in the payoff phase, the high energy donor is our molecule, so it will generate ATP from ADP).
8. Phosphoglycerate Mutase
"Phosphate + Glycerol Mutate" Move the molecule around to a different orientation.
9: Enolase
Creates double bond
10: Pyruvate Kinase (irreversible)
Makes pyruvate by moving phosphate to ADP to generate ATP!
