Travelling to Tilburg

The event will take place on the campus, which has its dedicated train and bus stops. It might be easier to reach Tilburg city first, depending on your accommodation and travelling plans. 

To Tilburg city

• If you travel by plane, there are several options for you. In general, we advise you to rely on public transportation from the airport, as taxis are rather costly in the region.

  • • Schiphol (AMS) is the biggest close-by airport – it less than 1h30 from Tilburg city, very well connected by trains. 

    • Eindhoven (EIN) is also a good option – you need a bus to reach Eindhoven main station, from where frequent trains to Tilburg run. 

    • Brussels (BRU) can be an option too – the travel is approx. 1h30, but trains are less frequent and can be slightly less reliable.
      
      

• If you travel by trains, Tilburg is generally well-connected. For both international and national travel, we advise you to rely on the information from the train company (NS), rather than on google maps. 

  • • For international travel, you can check NS-international; for national travel, you can rely on NS website or app. 

    • Tickets for Dutch trains are typically valid for a journey rather than a specific train, and thus do not require to book a seat.*  Instead of purchasing a ticket, you can opt for the tap-in/tap-out system. (see below)
      (*this does not apply for trains run by private, such as e.g. Eurostar, and might not apply for international tickets)

    • If you plan to stay on campus, you can buy a ticket to Tilburg university even for international travel. 

To Tilburg university

The campus is well connected through public transportation, with both train and bus options. 

• Tilburg universiteit is the train stop to reach campus. It is between 5 and 10 min by feet from the relevant buildings.

• Bus stops include Tilburg universiteit (station) (line 3), Universiteit van Tilburg (line 4), and Conservatoriumlaan (line 2). Google maps is reliable for buses. 

• Taxis from and to the city center are an option – for around €30.

For national tickets, the Netherlands has a "tap-in/tap-out" system that is available using your credit card. This applies for both buses and trains, and can be used with both physical and virtual cards. Further information here.
