# Privacy Policy — Bin Day

## Overview
Bin Day 01 is a configurable waste collection schedule and reminder app. This privacy policy explains what data is collected and how it is used.
## Data We Collect Directly
**We do not collect any personal data directly.** Specifically:
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any account information
- We do not access your location, camera, microphone, or contacts
- We do not store any data on external servers
- We do not require account creation
## Local Data Storage
The following data is stored **locally on your device only** and never transmitted:
- **Bin configurations** — names and colours you set for your bins
- **Collection dates** — the dates you configure for each bin
- **Notification preferences** — your chosen reminder time and per-bin notification toggles
This data remains on your device unless you explicitly choose to export and share your schedule using the app's share feature.
## Advertising
This app displays ads provided by **Google AdMob** to support ongoing development. When ads are shown, Google may collect certain information including:
- **Device identifiers** — advertising ID, device model, and operating system version
- **Ad interaction data** — whether ads were viewed, tapped, or dismissed
- **General location** — approximate location derived from IP address (not GPS)
- **Usage data** — app usage patterns related to ad delivery
This data is collected and processed by Google in accordance with [Google's Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy).
### Your Choices
- **GDPR consent**: Users in the European Economic Area (including Ireland) are shown a consent dialog on first use. You can choose to accept personalised ads, non-personalised ads, or decline ads where applicable.
- **Advertising ID**: You can reset or opt out of personalised advertising in your device settings: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation.
- **Ad-free use**: The app functions fully without internet access. Offline use will not display ads or transmit any data.

## Export / Import Feature
The app includes an optional feature to share your collection schedule with others (e.g. neighbours). When you export, a text containing only bin names, colours, and dates is generated. This is shared via Android's standard share mechanism and is entirely under your control.

## Children's Privacy

- **Google ad data**: Retained by Google per their data retention policies
