Funny, it doesn't really matter what size fish a kid catches, it seems they get the same smile on their face.

One day we were catching a nice mess of speckled trout when all of a sudden a 13 year old boy hooked and landed a shark. For an old coast veteran like me specks are great and sharks are trouble, but to a young boy, there is nothing like a shark.

Now he has a story to tell all of his friends about how he fought him for so long, how he flopped all around in the bottom of the boat, how he could see his dangerous and sharp teeth, how rough his skin felt.

When the family booked a fishing charter with me the next year, the father told me his son talks about the shark often, but he always begins the story with "When my daddy took us fishing..."
