He was a candidate for the world chess championship on 10 occasions. He won the USSR championship four times. In 2006, he won the 16th World Senior Championship at the age of 75. He was the oldest person ever to be ranked among the world’s top 100 chess players. He played two world chess championships against Anatoly Karpov, but lost both matches. He was famous for accepting all chess sacrifices, confident in his ability to survive any attack. Here is a collection of Korchnoi’s short games, arranged by opening.
