Billie Bowman is an interdisciplinary artist living in Chicago, Illinois, working in sculpture, etching, painting, and drawing. She has obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her sculpture work features cast bronze figures that confront her past of familial loss through self-portraits while exploring themes of grief and coping mechanisms. Bowman’s etching and drawing work also feature the female form, predominantly focusing on sensuality and body positivity. While Bowman is most often found in the foundry or etching studio, she still occasionally returns to her classical training in oil and watercolor painting. She enjoys exploring the outdoors through painting en plein air, outside and on location.
