Bill Day ("the App") is developed and maintained by Rio Digital Studios, an independent developer based in Ireland. This policy describes how the App handles your data.
Summary
Bill Day is a local-first app. Your bill data is stored on your device and is not transmitted to any server. No account is required. We do not collect, store, or share your personal or financial data.
Data stored on your device
The App stores the following data locally on your device using an SQLite database and Android SharedPreferences:
Bill names, amounts, due dates, frequencies, and categories that you enter
Payment history that you record when marking bills as paid
Your chosen country, currency, and reminder preferences
App usage preferences (dismissed tips, completed onboarding)
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export it using the App's export feature.
Data we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personal identifiers
We do not collect bank account details, credit card numbers, or login credentials
We do not access your camera, contacts, location, or files
We do not require you to create an account
Third-party services
The App uses the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy:
Google AdMob — The App displays banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalisation, subject to your consent via the GDPR consent dialog shown when you first open the App. You can change your consent preferences at any time in the App's settings. Google Firebase Crashlytics — The App uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous crash reports. These reports contain technical information about the crash (device model, operating system version, stack trace) but no personal data or bill information. Google Firebase Analytics — The App uses Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics (screen views, feature usage). No personal data or bill content is included. This data helps us improve the App.
Comparison and affiliate links
The App's Bill Guide / Comparison feature contains links to third-party comparison websites (such as bonkers.ie, uswitch.com, chill.ie, and others). When you tap a comparison link, you are directed to the third-party website in your browser. We may earn a commission if you complete a switch or purchase through these links. These links are clearly labelled within the App. We do not share any of your data with these third-party websites.
Notifications
The App sends local notifications to remind you about upcoming bills, overdue payments, and contract renewals. These notifications are generated entirely on your device and are not sent through any external server. You can control notification permissions in your device settings.
Data backup
If you have Android auto-backup enabled, your bill data and preferences may be backed up to your Google account as part of Android's standard backup service. This is controlled by your device settings, not by the App. AdMob and Firebase cache data is excluded from backups.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Data deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete all App data at any time by uninstalling the App or clearing its data in your device's Settings > Apps > Bill Day > Clear Data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at this page. Material changes will be noted with an updated effective date.
