Welcome to the BBES Advocacy Corner, a monthly segment focused on advocacy information, updates and opportunities. Advocacy is at the heart of the PTA's mission and helps give a voice to the needs of all students and families in our community.

To advocate simply means "to speak on the behalf of or in support of another person, place, or thing." As parents and teachers, we find ourselves advocating for our children and students all the time. We also engage in advocacy when we work to improve or spark change in laws, policies and conditions on behalf of children. Advocacy doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, there are several ways you can get involved right away.

Comal ISD, through our elected Board of Trustees has set their legislative priorities to focus on: funding, school safety, accountability, and teacher recruitment and retention. ENGAGE: Talking to other parents and teachers about issues impacting students in our community and sharing information about important causes are great ways to get started on advocacy efforts. Our PTA at BBES has an advocacy committee and we welcome your questions and concerns. ACT: Texas PTA will be hosting their “Rally Day” at the State Capitol on February 22-23, 2027 in Austin. This is an exciting day where parents, teachers and students from across the state come together to raise awareness and learn more about issues impacting Texas children.
