INFORMATION ABOUT IES LLANES

IES Llanes is a state high school  with Compulsory Secondary education, called ESO, from 1st to 4th level (12 to 15 year-old students) and Post Secondary education , called BACHILLERATO, from 1st to 2nd level (16 to 17 year-old students).

BILINGUAL TEACHING

We use the CLIL methodology/ approach  (Content and Language Integrated learning), which means we teach some subjects partially in English and partially in Spanish. Language assistants help with the English teaching activities in subjects such as Maths, Biology, Physics and Chemistry, Phisolophy, Geography, Tecnology, Arts and Physical Education.

The Coordinator of the Bilingual programme is in charge of language assistants in anything they might need and  is the one who prepares language assistants' schedule.

IES Llanes has had language assistants from different countries since 2005, so we  have a lot of experience. Since 2016 we have been allowed  two language assistants

Language assistants don't have to know much about all the subjects. They will coordinate with teachers to make the most of ther lessons. The teachers will either elaborate / provide them with the activities or will guide them in the activities they might prepare themselves. Language assistans should just trust the teachers and the bilingual coordinator.

Schedule:

Language assistants usually work four days a week and  teach 12 hours directly with the kids, accompanied by teachers. Apart from this, every week they will have one or two hours to meet the teachers and prepare the lessons with them.

Other activities:

Language assistants might also collaborate with the English teachers in some lessons and if they want, they might be able to participate in school activities, such as field trips or other extra curricular activities.

OUR CITY:  SEVILLE

Seville is a beautiful and busy city; you will love it. Renting is quite expensive, so you would have to come in advance to look for accommodation.
