Income Inequality, Market Size and Firm Conduct
The project analyses the effects of income inequality on the functioning of markets characterized by market power. The focus of the work is on the analysis of quality choices, the level of variety and the hierarchy of the available products. The empirical analysis aims to incorporate the spatial aspects of competition, which often characterize local markets in order to evaluate the effects of income inequality at the micro-level. The empirical analysis focuses on product choices in the restaurant market.
