Our Projects
Partnering with county and municipal authorities, Bike Friendly West Bend contributes to diverse initiatives that advance its mission, including:
- Applying for Bicycle Friendly Community designation from the League of American Bicyclists
- Contributing to the design of and raising funds for improvements to the Eisenbahn State Trail’s Rusco Drive trailhead, to the Washington County master bike/pedestrian plan, and to the West Bend bike route plan
- Coordinating the Bicycle Benefits program with local merchants
- Coordinating the design, fabrication, and placement of custom bike racks
- Creating a plan to connect the Eisenbahn and Ozaukee Interurban trails to further the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy’s vision of the Route of the Badger
- Fundraising for the Cycling Without Age program at West Bend’s Samaritan Health Center
- Gathering and analyzing data from ridership counts and surveys
- Maintaining the Eisenbahn State Trail and other local bike/pedestrian infrastructure
- Organizing activities each year for Bike Month—including Bike-to-Work and Bike-to-School days—and for the Summer of Cycling
- Organizing social rides
- Planning events that promote tourism and economic development for our community
- Supporting the annual Ride of Silence to honor riders who have died or have been injured in collisions with motor vehicles
