The iconic route along the length of the Outer Hebrides
It spans nearly 200 miles across 10 islands, two ferries and six causeways - with rugged hills, machair grasslands, and the dazzling Atlantic coastline. I cycled it in six days, with 2,433 meters of elevation gain.
I was blessed with brilliant sunshine - and stunning scenery, plus wildlife and heritage that are unique to these islands.
Top highlights were Luskentyre Beach and Seilebost beach, machair grasslands, and the Callanish Standing Stones.
It starts with the ferry from Oban to Castlebay on Barra and ends at the Butt of Lewis Lighthouse at the northernmost tip of the Isle of Lewis. Then back to Stornoway for the ferry to Ullapool.
This was a warm-up for a longer Bike For Butterflies ride around the Welsh coast later in the summer.
