Motocross (or MX) is the direct equivalent of road racing, but off-road, a number of bikes racing on a closed circuit. Motocross circuits are constructed on a variety of non-tarmac surfaces such as dirt, sand, mud, grass, etc., and tend to incorporate elevation changes either natural or artificial. Advances in motorcycle technology, especially suspension, have led to the predominance of circuits with added "jumps" on which bikes can get airborne. Motocross has another noticeable difference from road racing, in that starts are done en masse, with the riders alongside each other. Up to 40 riders race into the first corner, and sometimes there is a separate award for the first rider through (see holeshot). The winner is the first rider across the finish line, generally after a given amount of time or laps or a combination.

But it sticks out like a sore thumb when some cars with very iconic tunes sound so generic. My favourtie being the Ford GT race car which sounds horrible IRL, like a MX bike and Rally car being forced to have relations, but in FM7 sounded like a fine tuned race car with euphoric note.

I recorded this library with 2x dpa 4060s, 2x ME2, an sm57, sennheiser 416 and a pair of cm3s recorded in an xy pattern. I set up the cm3s on a mic stand, and followed the action with the 416, with 5 onboard microphones capturing sounds on the bike as well.

Two-stroke and four-stroke engines compete together. The race track is about seven kilometers long with a high difference in elevation. The library features sounds such as race starts, test laps, roaring passbys, struggling engines as the bikes go up and down the hills, single bikes and groups + lots more sounds from the event.

When you are outside you can hear that SAME sound over and over again (even on isolated areas such as desert or forest), a superecar (or superbike) speeding up in background, slowly fading away.

The only car that matches that sound is Carbonizzare and probably the Bati 800. I can't tell exactly which vehicle can be heard.

Your thoughts?

I always thought it was a bike, I can agree it does get repetitive, it would be great if there were more ambient noises in the countryside areas (the sound also plays when in the city), but I guess we'll have to settle for the same superbike sound, which is odd as bike's aren't as common as the sound makes them to be.

Carbonizzare nearly matches that sound. I'm not 100% sure it is a superbike. If i recall correctly, previous GTA's had more variety in terms of ambient BG noises, from different car sounds, to horns etc.

It has many difficult levels and a freestyler who is very expert in doing all kind of stunts can progress in this game. There are so many obstacles that will derail you on your path and this will spur your adrenaline. Unlike other bike racing games, you do not race against me there bikers; you will only race against obstacles till you race to the finish line.

Want to transform your kid's bike by making it sound like a motorcycle? We'll show you how with 4 simple hacks to make your kids love playing on their bikes even more. You may remember some of these methods from your own childhood!

As we fight against the rise in screen time among children, parents are becoming more aware of the importance of active, outdoor play. Finding ways to encourage playing outdoors has never been so important. Here are 4 hacks to add a motorcycle sounds to your kid's bike.

The first and probably the oldest and most used hack for adding some sound to your bike is to use a good old fashioned playing card. People have been putting cards in bike spokes for decades to add a cool motorcycle sound.

You can now push your bike hacking mastery even further with this new plastic toy, made especially for the purpose of changing the sound of your bike to make it sound like a motorcycle. This little piece of plastic clips onto the front bike fork, so that it hits the spokes. The paddle section faces inward. When the wheel spins, the spokes bump against it, making an engine sound!

Whether gamers are new to the racing genre, fans of four-wheeled racers looking for a new challenge or veterans of motorcycle games, the diverse handling models of MotoGP 07 will allow players of varied skill levels to access and enjoy the adrenaline fuelled world of MotoGP. Features such as riding aids will provide newcomers to the series with the confidence to push their bikes to the limit. Experienced players will have the option to independently control front and rear brakes as well as the rider's position, making them feel at one with their bike as they enter and exit the tightest of hairpins inches from the tarmac, before stepping on the gas to reach speeds of well over 200mph/320kph. Plus players can also adjust the AI of their race opponents, modifying speed and ability to match their own riding level and create a more balanced race.

GK: Our sound effects man Fred Newman got into radio sound effects because he was able to do primates and make them sound almost human, so he played Bombo in Little Liza of the Amazon (JUNGLE BIRDS, PRIMATES)

GK: LITTLE LIZA OF THE AMAZON was a terrific show for sound effects men because they got to do wild animals (CHIMPS, WILD BIRDS), but also more subtle noises like writing in a journal (SCRIBBLING), people brushing their teeth (BRUSHING)-water dripping (DRIPPING), and a bike with a horn on the front (BIKE, BELL). But unfortunately television was coming in and ratings were falling and management was scared, and they wanted explosions.

GK: Fred urged the broadcast industry toward doing wholesome family shows so he could do sounds like mixers (SFX) and chickens (SFX) and toilets flushing (SFX), and he tried to tell management that but unfortunately -- doing sound effects had changed Fred's voice (FN SPEECH IN SLOW-MO) and he was no longer intelligible, and anyway management wanted something else --

GK: And it was only when our show went on the air, that Fred Newman came out of retirement and came back to radio. Because here on our show he could do fax machines (SFX) and copiers (SFX) and hair dryers (SFX) and four-speed bikes (SFX) and espresso machines (SFX) and marmots (SFX) and grommets (SFX), the sounds of everyday life. Though ever so often, when he needs a little extra cash, he will go back to one of those shows for a guest appearance and blow something up. (SFX) ff782bc1db
