The Porlock Garden space was disused, the ground was uneven, over grown and a space used as a dumping ground surrounded by homes. This space is now transformed into an active community garden, growing, supporting and sustaining the local community. The Friends of Porlock have a lot of ambitions for the space, matched only by the amazing potential of this space.
Porlock Garden is a site for our first jarra tea producer. The Big Local team have worked with Bilton Hall, Porlock Garden and Jarrow Mindset to develop this brilliant local resource.
With the support of SAGE Porlock will be transformed on September 10th. The Big Local plot will be ready to go from them. We invite volunteers, students and locals to get involved in devleoping this amazing garden.
140 People from Sage, supported by Groundwork South Tyneside came to Porlock Gardens on Tuesday September 10th to help transform the Porlock Community Garden. Big Thanks from us at Jarra tea. These are the beds where our tea will grow.
