Chlorella is a nutrient-dense freshwater algae jam packed with nutrients (including protein), and is a natural detoxifier.
Nutritional Profile:
Chlorella is rich in nutrients, including:
Protein: It contains 50–60% protein and provides all nine essential amino acids.
Vitamin B12: Some chlorella varieties may also contain vitamin B12.
Iron and Vitamin C: Chlorella can be a good source of iron (6–40% of daily needs) and vitamin C (which aids iron absorption).
Antioxidants: Chlorella offers a variety of antioxidants.
Other Vitamins and Minerals: It provides magnesium, zinc, copper, potassium, calcium, folic acid, and other B vitamins.
Omega-3s: Just 3 grams of chlorella deliver 100 mg of omega-3s.
Fiber: While most supplements don’t provide much fiber, chlorella can be a good source in larger quantities1.
Detoxification:
Animal studies suggest that chlorella helps remove heavy metals and harmful compounds from the body.
It binds to heavy metals, aiding in detoxification.
It detoxifies the body so much that if you consume a lot daily, a person will not even need deodorant! That speaks volumes. Try it for yourself! It has the same effect in animals, detoxing them and making their breath smell good, etc! Breath is also helped with proper gut microbes so adding regular probiotics is healthy and essential for wellbeing.
NOTE: Chlorella is also good to give to females that have had a hormone sparing sterilization as they will still have cycles where their scent attracts a male. Chlorella will help with mitigate the scent issue.
I purchase chlorella through Swanson Vitamins. The tabs or powder here is the best price I have found. Powder is cheaper for the amount and fine for dogs, I prefer to take the tabs.
