Please note: dog will have a heat cycle still but not bleed due to her uterus being removed. This allows for the dog to still have all the wonderful health benefits of having hormones without getting pregnant. Heat smell can be mitigated by giving the dog chlorophyll during her cycles so as to not attract male dogs. More info on hormone sparing sterilizations HERE.
Betty spent months—possibly over a year—living on the corner of N. Kulani. The community looked out for her, even building her a dog house and leaving food, but she was too fearful to let anyone get close. With patience and care, we were finally able to safely trap and secure her, and she’s been making steady progress ever since.
Betty is a smart girl who knows sit and waits patiently for her meals. She’s up to date on all wellness care and appears to be around 3–5 years old. While the white on her nose initially made us think she might be older, her teeth tell a different story!
We haven’t been able to test her with indoor cats, but she shows very strong interest in cats through the gate, so a home without cats or chickens is likely best. She’s been working on leash skills and has improved, though she still pulls at the beginning of walks and would benefit from continued training. She is not much of a barker even when people come around that she doesn't know. She will be best as a loving part of the family and not a guard dog.
Betty absolutely adores her friend Lala (also up for adoption), and they would love to be adopted together. That said, she would also be happy with another playful dog—or even as an only dog in the right home.
She is a bit shy at first, especially with men, but warms up quickly. Betty is ready for a patient, loving family who will continue helping her build confidence and enjoy the life she’s always deserved 🐾💛

Lala came to us with a severe eye injury, and at the time we were unsure if she would even be able to keep her eye. Thankfully, with proper care and time, she made a full recovery. Her injury was caused by intentional blunt force trauma, and as a result, Lala has been understandably timid since the incident.
While her physical wounds have healed, she is still working through some emotional scars—but she has made incredible progress. At first, she wouldn’t take food from a hand at all. Through consistent hand-feeding and gentle desensitization, she has learned to trust again and now happily eats from a hand and takes treats.
Lala walks nicely on leash and gets along very well with other dogs. She will bark at cats through a fence but has not been tested with them up close. She is fully potty trained and crate trained. Knows "sit", "shake" and to wait for food.
Lala is approximately 4–5 years old and weighs around 30 pounds. She is a sweet soul who will thrive in a patient, loving home willing to continue building her confidence. 🐾💛

Potty trained, crate trained and in all our direct experience, gets along great with other dogs. She has been at two other locations where the male dog for some reason did not like her. We have exposed her to 4 male dogs with us and there has been no issue whatsoever. Unsure of cats and chickens. She knows "sit" and to "wait" for food.
She can be a bit skittish and was initially fearful of the leash, but she has made tremendous progress and now walks very well on leash with no pulling. Layla is shy at first, especially with men but warms up and is incredibly friendly, showering you with kisses, and absolutely loves belly rubs. If you’re looking for a true love bug who will happily smother you in affection, Layla is your girl. 💕🐾
