At Big Hurricane Baptist Church, we are a friendly and welcoming Southern Baptist congregation located in the heart of Alabama with a rich history that dates back to the early 19th century.  As you enter our doors, you'll be greeted by friendly faces and a sense of belonging. Our congregation is known for its warm and welcoming nature, eagerly extending hospitality to all who join us. Whether you're a longtime member or a first-time visitor, you'll quickly find yourself embraced as part of our church family.

Church History:

Church meetings were first held on the site of Big Hurricane Baptist Church sometime between 1827 and 1832, and oral tradition holds that meetings began in 1831. Named for nearby Big Hurricane Creek, the church was officially constituted in September 1838 by 24 members of the Sardis Baptist Church.

Throughout the years, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to the teachings of the Bible and serving the Lord and people of  Brookwood. We were admitted to the Tuscaloosa County Baptist Association in 1839 and later joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Association in 1941, fostering relationships and partnerships with other like-minded churches in the area.
