This policy explains what Big Font (the “App”) does with information.
In short: we do not run a server of our own and we never ask you for personal details. Your settings stay on your device. The App does, however, use Google Firebase to understand how the App is used and to receive crash reports, and it shows advertising supplied by third-party ad networks. Those services collect data about your device. This policy explains what they collect and how you can limit it.
None. Big Font does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts or account details. There is no Big Font account and no sign-up.
The App uses Google Firebase, which acts as our data processor. We do not operate our own servers; the data below is held by Google on our behalf.
Firebase Analytics records how the App is used, so we can see which features matter and where people get stuck. It may collect:
an app instance identifier and your advertising identifier;
events such as screens opened and features used;
device information such as model, operating system version, country, language and app version.
Firebase Crashlytics records diagnostic information when the App crashes or misbehaves, so we can fix it. It may collect:
the crash stack trace and the state of the App at that moment;
device model, operating system version and app version;
an installation identifier (Crashlytics Installation UUID).
Firebase Remote Config lets us change settings inside the App without shipping an update. It sends device information such as app version and language so the right configuration is returned.
None of this identifies you by name. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.

The App displays ads through Google AdMob. To serve, cap and measure ads, AdMob and its partners may collect and process:
your advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID);
approximate location derived from your IP address;
device information such as model, operating system version, language and screen size;
ad interaction data, such as which ads were shown, viewed or tapped;
diagnostic information about ad delivery.
This information is collected by the ad network under its own privacy policy, not ours. We do not receive your advertising identifier, and we do not build a profile of you.

You have several options:
Reset or delete your advertising ID — open Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. Deleting the ID stops apps from receiving a persistent identifier for advertising.
Opt out of personalised ads — in the same Android Settings screen. You will still see ads, but they will be less targeted.
EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR) — the first time the App shows an ad, you will be asked for consent to personalised advertising. You can change your answer at any time from the App’s privacy options.
California and other US states (CCPA/CPRA) — you may opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information by using the opt-out setting described above, or by emailing us.
Remove ads entirely — if the App offers a paid ad-removal option, purchasing it stops ads being requested.
If you buy anything in the App, the transaction is handled entirely by Google Play Billing.
We never see or store your card number, bank details or billing address.
We receive only a confirmation from Google that a purchase is valid, so the App can unlock what you bought.
Google processes payment data under its own privacy policy.
Purchase and refund history is held in your Google account, not by us.

Why it is needed
Modify system settings (WRITE_SETTINGS)
The core function: writing the system text size so all apps display larger text. Nothing else is written. You grant it yourself and can revoke it at any time in Android Settings.
Internet (INTERNET)
Loading news pages and requesting ads.
Network state (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE)
Checking whether you are online before loading a page or an ad.
Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID)
Required by Android so the ad network can access the advertising identifier described in section 3.
Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING)
Only if the App offers in-app purchases.
The App also asks Android for the list of apps that can be launched from your home screen, so the Icons tab can show their icons and names. This is a scoped query — the App does not request the broad “query all packages” permission. The list is read on your device, is shown only to you, and is never sent anywhere.
The App saves the following locally, in Android’s app-private storage:
your chosen text size preset;
your chosen icon size;
your dark mode and language preference;
whether the welcome tip has been shown;
your advertising consent choice;
your purchase status, if you have bought anything;
news articles you saved, and your news reading history.
This data never leaves your device except as described in section 9. Uninstalling the App deletes all of it. You can also clear it at any time via Android Settings → Apps → Big Font → Storage → Clear data.
The News tab opens Google News inside an in-app browser (WebView). When you use it, your device connects directly to Google’s servers, exactly as it would in any browser. Google may receive your IP address, device and browser information, and may set cookies in the App’s browser storage, according to Google’s own privacy policy.
We do not read, intercept, log or share anything you view in the News tab. Article titles and links you save are stored only on your device.
If you have Android Backup enabled in your Google account, Android may include the App’s local settings in your device backup. That backup is managed by Google and your device, not by us. You can turn it off in your device’s backup settings.

The App bundles no attribution or tracking SDK beyond what is listed above.
The App is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because the App shows advertising, we ask that children use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will act on it.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, and to withdraw consent at any time.
We hold no account or contact details for you, so we identify your data only by the identifiers described in sections 2 and 3. Email us and we will ask Google to delete the analytics and crash data associated with your app installation.
You can also act without contacting us:
Clear the App’s data or uninstall it — this resets the app instance identifier, after which past analytics data can no longer be linked to your device.
Use the advertising controls in section 4 to reset or delete your advertising ID.
For data held by advertising partners, you may also exercise your rights directly with them.
App data is stored in Android’s private per-app storage, which other apps cannot read on a normal (non-rooted) device. Payment data is handled entirely by Google and never reaches us.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. If we begin collecting data we do not collect today, we will say so clearly here before it takes effect.
