Big Easy is a small, Family run beach resort on the little known idyllic island of Koh Mak. Situated in the largest Southern bay “Ao Ka-toeng”, on a secluded stretch of the 3km long beach, Big Easy enjoys a quiet, natural location but is still within walking distance of the local “strip” of shops and restaurants. The Bungalows are set in mature gardens, generously spaced apart to provide greater privacy and a relaxed, homely feeling. With only seven rooms you are never far from the beach.

Design

The Bungalows design is broadly Thai Style with hard red wood floors, walls, deck and a high pitched roof to add an extra dimension of space to a 27 square metre sleeping/living room. The cool bathroom is similarly capacious (9 square metres), tiled in local black slate from Trat with a hot water rain shower. The balconies or decks (11 square metres) all face the beach and boast a very nice hammock, table and chairs and a long bench seat with room to spare.

The family Bungalow consists of two separate bedrooms with bathrooms en suite constructed in the same hard wood and slate bathroom style.

The Restaurant is directly on the beach, open on three sides to appreciate the breeze off the water and enjoy the view of Koh Kood and Koh Rang Noi to the south. The décor again is Thai hard red wood throughout with expansive wooden floors and hand-made furniture. The Restaurant has a substantial library of books in several languages with sofas and armchairs to relax and have a read. What can you say about the food? Well, the consensus seems to be very good indeed but the proof is in the tasting so please give it a try.
