Project Aims
Design - Sensor Array
Design - SoftwareÂ
Our smart buoy system aims to provide crucial data for various aquatic sectors/applications in real-time and in a cost-effective manner. Many industries require reliable access to water flow, direction and temperature data, namely in the hydroelectric, seaweed and hydroponics fields.
Our project utilizes a hall effect sensor to measure the water flow in L/min, a magnetometer to measure the direction of the flow, and finally a temperature sensor, all of which are sealed in a waterproof case and ideally mounted to an existing buoy. The sensor array is attached to our transmitting module which features a LoRa V3 board capable of communicating wirelessly over 5 km.
The backend of our system involves an ETL pipeline to efficiently transmit data from the receiver module to our cloud database hosted with AWS. This ensures clean and secure data for the client. Our front end web-application is built in ReactJS to provide a user-friendly dashboard for data visualization, featuring customizable thresholds and data ranges for various sensor applications.
