Behavioural Intervention Space
Our solution to the zero-tolerance policy problem is a behavioral intervention space (BI Room). This room will be a space students can be allowed in throught one of two ways, teacher/counselor referral or through a request process. Students will be provided with resources to cope and calm themselves down. The room will be there, not as a toy or a fun time, but as a place where struggling students can go before facing the rigid consequences enforced by the zero-tolerance policy. Additionally, it will be monitored by an adult, but communication with the adult will not be mandatory throughout the student's stay in the room.
