Purpose

The BIE NBCT Network will provide unique opportunities for educators and stakeholders to come together to broaden the influence of NBPTS by providing teacher leadership based on the National Board’s Five Core Propositions for What Teachers Should Know and Be Able to Do. These teacher leaders will create sustainable programs to meet the unique needs of the BIE and Indigenous teachers to advance accomplished teaching by supporting BIE and Indigenous teachers, BIE National Board candidates, and the students they serve.

• Need #1: Increase the number of NBCTs at BIE schools.

• Need #2: Increase the number of NBCT candidates at BIE schools

• Need #3: To cultivate a community of accomplished teaching for all BIE and Indigenous teachers, all teachers of Indigenous students and the students taught within these classrooms.
