Publisher note: Before publishing this policy, replace all placeholders, confirm the actual SDKs and services used in the production app, and make sure this policy matches your Google Play Data Safety form.
Illumina Bible (the "App", "we", "our", or "us") is a Bible reading, devotional study, and scripture learning app. The App may allow users to read the Bible offline, complete verse-based word challenges, follow reading plans, save bookmarks, notes, and highlights, and optionally use AI-powered scripture explanations, follow-up questions, audio reading, leaderboards, and prayer circles.
This Privacy Policy explains how we access, collect, use, store, share, and protect information related to the App.
The current version of the App does not display third-party advertisements and does not use the Android Advertising ID for advertising or ad measurement. We do not include ad SDKs such as Google AdMob in the current production version.
If we add advertising or advertising-related SDKs in a future version, we will update this Privacy Policy and the Google Play Data Safety form before release.

We do not sell personal or sensitive user data. To provide App features, we may share necessary information with service providers or process information through their SDKs and services, including:
Google Firebase: Anonymous authentication, cloud sync, Firestore data storage, and possible diagnostics or crash reporting.
Google Gemini / Google AI services: Scripture explanations, follow-up answers, devotional reflections, and related AI features.
Google Cloud Text-to-Speech: Conversion of scripture or devotional text into audio.
Google Play services: App distribution, platform services, safety, billing, or other system capabilities if enabled.
These third-party services may process information according to their own privacy policies. You may review their privacy information here:
We may also disclose information when required by law, legal process, or government request; to protect the rights, safety, or property of users, the developer, or the public; with user consent; or as part of a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, subject to appropriate notice where required.
The App may include AI-generated content, such as scripture explanations, follow-up answers, devotional reflections, and related verse suggestions. AI-generated content is provided for devotional, educational, and study reference only. It should not replace scripture, pastoral guidance, trusted theological resources, professional advice, or personal discernment.
If users find AI content inaccurate, inappropriate, offensive, or unsafe, they may report it through the in-app feedback/reporting feature (to be confirmed before release) or contact us at [Privacy or Support Email]. We may use feedback to improve content filtering, prompts, safeguards, and moderation.
The App may request notification permission for daily devotional reminders, streak reminders, and re-engagement reminders. The current design primarily uses local notifications scheduled on the device. Users can turn notifications off at any time in system settings or app settings.
Some information is stored locally on the user's device, such as the offline Bible database, settings, caches, bookmarks, notes, TTS cache, and local progress. If cloud sync is enabled or used by default, some progress and content may be stored in Firebase/Firestore or our backend services.
We retain information only for as long as necessary to provide the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, or as reasonably required for legal compliance, dispute resolution, safety, anti-fraud, and audit purposes. Cache files may be removed by the App or the operating system over time.
Users may request access, correction, or deletion of their data by:
Using the in-app clear data, delete data, or account deletion option where available.
Contacting us at [Privacy Contact Email] and providing information that helps us locate the relevant data, such as an anonymous user ID, screenshot, or related details.
If we need to retain certain information for security, anti-fraud, legal compliance, or recordkeeping reasons, we will explain the reason and retention period where required.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user information, including HTTPS for production network requests, Firebase authentication tokens for protected backend endpoints, request size and rate limits, Firestore security rules, and limiting unnecessary data collection and access.
However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. Users should also protect their own devices and accounts.
Because we use global service providers such as Google and Firebase, user information may be processed and stored on servers outside the user's country or region. We handle such transfers in accordance with applicable laws and the data protection mechanisms used by our service providers.
The App is not directed to children under 13 and is not intended to be primarily used by children. If we learn that we have unintentionally collected personal information from a child under 13, or if a parent or guardian contacts us to request deletion, we will take reasonable steps to delete the information.
Depending on where users live, they may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of their information; withdraw consent; request data portability; or opt out of certain sale or sharing of personal information. Users may contact us at [Privacy Contact Email] to exercise these rights.
We may update this Privacy Policy when features, third-party services, laws, or policy requirements change. When we update the policy, we will revise the effective date on this page. If changes are material, we may provide notice in the App or on the store listing where appropriate.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, data processing, AI content reporting, or data deletion, please contact us:
