Bible Teaching Plans and Resources

Introduction

These bible teaching plans and resources were prepared by Ron Fountain each week for seven years from 2013 to 2019 with 'Trica Fountain providing the administrative assistance. They are a valuable resource and are made available freely on this website. Churches can adapt them to create their own teaching and learning programmes.

They are not sermon outlines but background notes to help in the preparation of the teaching presentation. They are theologically informed and based on Bible passages. There are also brief suggestions of a theme for worship for the Service Leader.

They were written for Porirua Gospel Chapel, a multi-cultural and multi-age church in Cannons Creek, a lower socio-economic suburb in New Zealand. There are resources for about 30 weeks of each year, for the adult, English-speaking part of the congregation. (All-age services during January and part of February and, usually, the second Sunday of the month are not included. Also, during one month, usually August, we scheduled topics of current interest, which are not included.)

A theme for each year was chosen in consultation with the church elders. Then a schedule covering a range of different parts of the Bible as drawn up, including series for Easter and Christmas. These are called “Programmes for Each Year”. Adaption will be needed for the changing dates of Easter, etc.

Also included are questions for home group discussion and prayer based on the Sunday topics. They can be used in the week before or after the Sunday service. Those titled “Alternative” have easier questions.

We trust that you find these notes helpful in planning your church teaching programme for the year. We pray that they will bring glory to God and build up your fellowship in their knowledge of the Word of God as they love and follow the Lord Jesus.

If you plan to use any of the bible teaching plans and resources in any way, we would be delighted to hear about this.
