Hello! Welcome to our FAQs page where all you need to know is on this page :) Thank you for showing interest in joining our not-so-little family of 27! ~ Happy reading!
We’re glad you asked! 😚 Auditions will be held in three stages:
Online Submission

Google Drive - upload video to Google Drive and paste the share link in the form. Make sure the settings allow for people with the link to view!
Format video name “Your Full Name - Artist - Song Title” eg. Jamie - Riize - Love 119
Those that pass the online audition round will be contacted within a week via Instagram
In-person Audition
Successful applicants will be notified via Instagram and will be invited to participate in our in-person audition on Sunday 2nd June (time) at the University of Melbourne studio (tbc)
*We will update you the exact time and location when we have confirmed a room spot
Auditionees will be taught a KPOP choreography which they will perform in front of our very friendly panel of Bias members! 😀
Bias trainees will be notified within a week of the in-person audition
Trial Projects
‘Bias newbies’ will be required to participate in three trial projects with your fellow trainees and existing Bias members. Two of these projects will be led by Bias members, and the final one will be a self-led project with a mentor to assist.
We don’t require a certain amount of experience to join!
We'd love to know what you've been involved in. Please include any prior dance experience (eg. performances/showcases, competitions, formal training) in the form, but do not be afraid to audition if you have no formal experience and started dancing by yourself - that’s how many Bias members started dancing too!
We use Facebook to organise our publics, practices and use our main group chat, and will use Instagram to distribute the audition results, so we do require our members to have these social media platforms. However, your account does not have to be public!
Unfortunately because Bias performs at club events and has certain availability requirements, we require our members to be 18 years old.
*You have to be born before May 2006 to audition for this round!
Here's how you'll be judged for your audition piece:
Charisma 👺- Facial expressions, Stage Presence, Lip Sync
Accuracy - Sharpness, Cleanliness, Pictures, Angles
Energy - Strength, Power, Control
Overall, we'd like someone who is dedicated, has a great attitude and also vibes well with our team. Our best tip is to just be yourself!
We strongly encourage everyone who wants to join to block out the in-person audition date so you have the best chance of showing off your dance skill as well as your personality! If you absolutely cannot make the date, we will accept video submissions of the same song within a time limit, but the criteria for these videos will be more strict than in-person.
Being a member of Bias is a huge time commitment and we’re looking for people who can be active and participate in projects often, so make sure you can commit to the team if you want to audition.
We practice and perform publicly in Melbourne so we are only accepting members that live in and around members and can attend practices in Melbourne CBD. We aren’t accepting members who only want to stay for a short period of time, so please make sure that you will be able to commit to Bias for a period of at least two years.
You absolutely can join if you’re part of another crew as long as you have the time for both! Please make sure to list your crew in the form and link to their channel/videos. A good way to think about your commitment when joining us is if there was a dance competition, would you compete with us or with your current crew?
If you have any further questions about the audition process, please message us on Instagram and we’ll do our best to get back to you ASAP! Good luck and have fun <3

No, we do public auditions when we are in need of new members so we don’t have a regular time for auditions.
Projects vary in length but usually members are required to learn dances in sections, eg. from intro to end of first chorus. However this will change depending on the project!
We are looking for members who can be active and commit to participating in covers often. In your first year, we expect at least one cover every two months
Yes! Members are required to submit a short dance video for reaudition at the end of every year
It depends on the project, but most leaders will schedule 2-3 pracs which are 2 hours each per week. On top of this, you may need to prelearn or practice choreography.
After someone volunteers to lead, members express interest in participating in the cover. The leader then selects members from those interested based on their vision for the cover.
We don’t have any confirmed events for the rest of 2024, but here are some regular events we run/participate in:
Flare x Bias Cocktail Night
K-pop Competitions (K-pop Festival, O2 Competition, Sydney K-Cover Competition)
Bonding events (eg. sports day, Halloween event, beach day, karaoke)
Results will be sent out within a week of the deadline, so by 11:59 May 19th.
Location for Round 2 is tbc, but will be in Melbourne CBD. Stay tuned for more details!
