# Biarela Privacy Policy

Biarela is developed and operated by an independent developer based in Romania. For privacy questions or requests, contact **app.biarela@gmail.com**.
## 1. Data stored on your device
Biarela stores your profile, meal entries, enjoyment and fullness ratings, optional calorie estimates, activity, sleep, weight, reviews, habits and settings locally on your device. Biarela does not currently provide user accounts, cloud synchronization or cloud backup. Local notifications are scheduled on your device.
You can export your Biarela data or permanently delete it from **My Data**. Uninstalling the app normally removes its local data, subject to your device's backup and restore settings.
## 2. Health Connect
If you grant permission, Biarela reads selected data from Android Health Connect: steps, active calories burned, total calories burned, exercise sessions, sleep and weight. It may read historical data and refresh permitted data in the background so your summaries stay current.
Health Connect access is read-only. Biarela does not modify or delete data stored in Health Connect. You can review or revoke these permissions at any time in Health Connect or Android settings.
## 3. Optional online AI features
Most Biarela features work locally. Online AI features are optional and require your consent.
When you request an AI analysis, Biarela sends meal entries for the selected period and relevant aggregated wellness data to Biarela's backend. Personal notes are excluded unless you separately choose to include them. A single-meal calorie estimate sends the meal description you enter. Biarela does not intentionally send your name, contact email or photos with AI requests.
The backend forwards the information needed to generate the requested result to **OpenAI**. Biarela also sends a randomly generated installation identifier to protect the online service from abuse and apply usage limits. This is not an advertising ID or hardware identifier.
Online requests use HTTPS. The backend does not intentionally store AI request or response content in a user profile or database. Hosting and security logs may temporarily contain technical metadata such as request time, status, IP address and error information. These logs are kept only as needed for security, troubleshooting and service operation.
You can withdraw future AI consent in the app's Privacy screen. Withdrawal does not affect processing that already occurred.
## 4. Contact form
If you use the in-app contact form, Biarela processes the name, email address and message you provide through **Formspree** so we can receive and respond to your request. You can instead email app.biarela@gmail.com. Contact messages are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain support records and meet legal obligations.
## 5. Service providers
Biarela uses service providers only where necessary to operate optional online features and support:
- **Render** for backend hosting and operational logs.
- **OpenAI** to process optional AI requests.
- **Formspree** to deliver contact-form messages.
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy commitments and may process data outside Romania or the European Economic Area using applicable transfer safeguards.
## 6. Sharing, advertising and analytics
Biarela does not sell personal data. The app does not contain advertising SDKs and does not currently use third-party product analytics SDKs. Data is shared only with the service providers described above, when you use the relevant optional feature, or when required by law.
## 7. Legal bases and retention
Where applicable under data-protection law, optional Health Connect and AI processing is based on your consent. Contact-form processing is necessary to respond to your request. Limited technical processing for security, fraud prevention and reliable operation is based on our legitimate interests.
Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Online technical logs and contact records are retained only for the operational, support and legal purposes described above and are deleted or anonymized when no longer needed.
## 8. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection, and to withdraw consent. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. Email **app.biarela@gmail.com** to make a request. We may need to verify it before acting.
## 9. Children
Biarela is a general wellness app and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through an online feature, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
## 10. Wellness disclaimer
Biarela is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. It is not a substitute for professional medical or dietetic advice.
## 11. Changes
We may update this policy as the app changes. The effective date identifies the latest version. Material changes will be communicated through the app or store listing where appropriate.
