The tour included Gandhi Smriti, a museum dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy, where rare letters, documents, and personal artifacts were displayed. At Barton Library, one of Gujarat’s oldest libraries, students explored an impressive range of historical and literary texts reflecting the city’s rich literary tradition. The Central Library of the University introduced participants to extensive academic resources, research facilities, and digital archives valuable for advanced studies. Moreover, Pattani Archives & Library, renowned for its rare historical records and royal documents, provided significant insights into the historical evolution of Bhavnagar.

The visit included Gujarat Samachar, where participants observed the processes of news collection, editing, and publication. Witnessing the workflow of print media—from information gathering to final printing—highlighted the accuracy and responsibility required in journalism. At the Saurashtra Samachar News Channel Studio, students explored the workings of broadcast journalism, including scriptwriting, live reporting, and studio management. Interactive sessions with media professionals further enriched the experience by discussing the growth of digital media and the importance of reliable news sources in today’s rapidly changing media landscape.

As part of an academic excursion, an educational visit was arranged to Adalaj Stepwell, Sabarmati Ashram, and Kamla Nehru Zoological Garden, providing a multidimensional learning experience that combined architecture, history, and environmental awareness. The journey began at Adalaj Stepwell, a remarkable example of Indo-Islamic design known for its detailed carvings and sophisticated water management system. The tour continued to Sabarmati Ashram, the residence where Mahatma Gandhi shaped his principles of non-violence and self-sufficiency. The tour aimed to provide students with practical exposure to the state’s cultural diversity, economic growth, and contemporary initiatives highlighted through various exhibitions and events. It offered an opportunity to observe how tradition and modern progress coexist, reflecting Gujarat’s dynamic identity.
During the visit, participants explored different pavilions, cultural displays, and interactive exhibits that showcased Gujarat’s heritage, industries, innovations, and entrepreneurial achievements. Engaging with these presentations allowed students to understand the significance of regional development, cultural preservation, and global outreach. Regional Science Centre Visit
On 10 December 2025, the Department of English organized a visit to the Regional Science Centre, Bhavnagar, to celebrate Nobel Day. The visit aimed to promote interdisciplinary learning by connecting science with the humanities.
Students explored five galleries: Marine & Aquatic, Automobile, Biology Science, Electro-Mechanics, and the Nobel Gallery. Each section provided valuable insights into scientific concepts and innovations. The Nobel Gallery was especially inspiring, as it highlighted the achievements of Nobel laureates and emphasized the importance of creativity, research, and dedication.
The visit helped students understand the connection between scientific progress and human thought, culture, and society. It also offered a chance for social interaction during a shared lunch.
Overall, the experience was informative and engaging, encouraging critical thinking and a broader perspective on learning.
