A part of our COA mission is to give community outreach opportunities to students, but also to work to teach our peers how to find their own volunteer work.
Attend group meetings
Through a mixture of in-school group meetings, our leaders hope to teach you how to find organizations you can serve well based on your skill set. Go to the meetings, ask questions, and feel free to reach out to one of the leaders for guidance on finding volunteer work!
Do your research
A big part of community outreach is actually finding the service opportunities and sometimes that takes longer than the actual volunteering itself. Now, I do not recommend recklessly searching the internet for opportunities, but I have some websites that I do find very helpful (I use them personally).

Stay informed
As a club, we hope to offer multiple communication options so that many students, organizations, and even parents can know what we're doing!
a. A good start is checking out our Calendar Section of this website to see what we have planned for meetings, volunteer opportunities, deadlines, etc.
b. Join our GroupMe (for Bloomington South High School Students only)! Our GroupMe is the main way we communicate when we are meeting, meeting notes, and volunteer opportunities. To join, scan the QR code on your mobile device below or ask a leader to add you!
c. Check out our social media! Follow us on Instagram @bhsscoa to see photos from our events and reminders of meetings.
A partnership with a local organization to create consistent volunteer work is a great way to build community service hours. This could range anywhere from volunteering at the animal shelter to working at a food kitchen. If incorporating this into your schedule interests you, then feel free to reach out to Adrianna Waterford at 812-345-6944 or adriannawaterford@gmail.com. She can help connect you to the right organization to work alongside based on your interests.
The Bloomington Community Kitchen is always in need of volunteers. To schedule a time you would like to volunteer, contact June Taylor (the Volunteer Coordinator) at 812-332-0999 or june@monroecommunitykitchen.com

Winter drive: Support Team Rubicon with COA as we continue to purchase winter clothing items through an amazon registry to send directly to the Camp Atterbury
Deadline: November 19th
How to Spread the word: With a simple text message including the amazon link, you can help the Afghan families have warm clothes and necessities this winter. Even if you are not planning on purchasing items from the registry, as a member of COA, it is encouraged to send the link to friends, peers, family members, etc to Spread the word!
More Information: Team Rubicon is in coordination with the Department of Defense and other organizations to meet the humanitarian needs unfolding. The relocation of Afghan families into communities across the United States creates an opportunity for each of us to stand up and assist people in need. Fortunately, we camp a relocation community here in the state of Indiana. I encourage all of you to help support these families with the given opportunities/resources at COA and elsewhere during this difficult time.
Any support or items purchased is incredibly appreciated, no matter how big or small!
