Defence School Mentor Program
Defence School Mentors are funded by Department of Defence through the Defence Community Organisation and are employed by respective schools or education systems within each State or Territory.
Our Activities
Our activities aim to encourage relationships to develop, providing a supportive network amongst their peers. Participation is not compulsory but encouraged.
• Year 7 welcome morning teas, providing connections in a relaxed environment.
• Defence group morning tea or lunch are held for our students each term.
• Themed morning teas for Easter and Christmas.
• Arts, craft and outdoor activities.
• Fortnightly ‘Coffee Club’ for our senior students.
• An open door policy where students are welcome to drop in for a chat.
• Individual mentoring offering educational resources to support student wellbeing.
• Group involvement in whole school special events.
• A variety of different activities which support the needs of individual students.
• Team building activities.
• Assisting School Representative Council (SRC) with the Leadership and coordination of ANZAC & Remembrance Day Ceremonies. These ceremonies provide an opportunity for Defence students to be involved in.

• If your child/children is experiencing any challenges whilst settling in.
• When a Defence family member is deployed or absent for an extended period of time to ensure appropriate supports are in place.
• When you become aware of a future posting so appropriate support can be provided in collecting information about your child’s/children’s anticipated new school.
