Brighton High School- Mrs. Zubiate-Lamb's Visual Arts

Dear Student, Parent and/or Guardian:

As your Visual Arts Teacher, I would like to take this opportunity to let you know what you can expect from this class as well as what I will, in turn, expect from you. I graduated from Munford High School in 1983 and from Memphis State (University of Memphis) in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with an endorsement area in Visual Arts.  I have worked at other schools for over 30 years off and on teaching art.

I am committed to building an interesting and productive classroom community where all members learn from each other. My expectation of you is that you participate fully in both creating and supporting a learning/sharing environment. You can do so by speaking to others respectfully, listening attentively, thinking deeply about the different projects created, and staying focused on the tasks at hand. I believe respect and communication goes both ways.  I will do my part and hopefully your child will do theirs.

You will see a snapshot of the syllabus for this school year; Rules & Expectations; and my Grading Procedures on the "Things I Need to Know" tab. Please review them with your child so that we are all on the same page. I have also attached an Art Supply List and the Rules of the Art Room (The Be Attitudes) for your review. Please sign, review these with your child and return it to me as soon as possible.

If you are unable to get all or part of the art supplies for any reason, let me know so I can make arrangements to have them use a classroom set of supplies.  If you have any questions, concerns or information you would like me to know, please feel free to email or call the school to set up a phone/in-person conference at any time.

I look forward to a fantastic school year and getting to know the future artist that will emerge from your child.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Genevieve Zubiate-Lamb

Brighton High School Visual Arts 1 Teacher
